Matt founded Epoch Realty Company in 2009 and is responsible for the strategic direction of the company and all aspects of Epoch’s investment and development transactions. In addition to leading Epoch over the past 13 years for his own account, Matt also co-founded Insight Realty Company in 2014.
Prior to forming Epoch, Matt was Senior Vice President at Foster Enterprises, the privately-held company that developed Foster City, California in the 1960s. While at Foster, Matt reported directly to the General Partners and oversaw all aspects of the company’s investment and development projects.
Before joining Foster, Matt was a real estate lawyer and also practiced in the fields of venture capital and corporate securities in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices of Cooley Godward and at Carr, McClellan in Burlingame, California. During his career, Matt has invested in or advised on more than 3.5 million square feet of real estate projects with a value exceeding $2 billion.
Before beginning his real estate career, Matt served six years as a U.S. Marine in the intelligence field where he participated in the liberation of Kuwait during Desert Storm in 1991, served as a U.S. Embassy security guard in Ethiopia and Switzerland, and completed extended tours in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Education
Matt earned his law degree from U.C. Hastings in San Francisco and his B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno.
